Welcome to Brad's page on the PAARNG
(That's Pennsylvania Army National Guard)

Yep, that's right.  Brad went and joined the Nasty Girls.  Who would have thought  it, right?  Well, apparently tons of people.  And here I was thinking that I'd surprise people.  Anyhow, I'm a combat medic, with the 103rd engineers based out of Philadlephia

So, what is the PAARNG anyway?  Well, we're also the 28th mechanized infantry division, with a long history.  My unit itself has an impressive history.

We trace back our unofficial lineage back to 1747 when Ben Franklin formed a band of associaters, to become an artillery group helping to defend Philadlephia.  I won't go into the entire history here, because there's a much nicer one right here.  All I wanted to let you all know is that we were started by good ol' Ben.

So far it's pretty nice.  My section (Headquarters companies, where medics are, don't have squads) is a real good one.  With a great section SGT, SGT Bullock.  He seems to take of his medics pretty well, and all of the female medics call him 'papa bear'.  Really cool guy.

Okay, now I guess the question of why pops up.

Well,  just off the bat, it has nothing to do with 'ra ra' patriotism.  It's more about serving.  Growing up, my family was helped out a lot by many many good different people and groups.  So I was raised with a really "strong protect the weak" ethic.  And now that I'm strong it's my time to protect the weak.  And I figured that it would be good for me to serve home in this fashion.  I chose to try and become a combat medic for a simple reason.  I want to try and decrease the number of people who come home horizontally from fighting.  If I can help at least one person come home with a purple heart on his chest rather than having that purple heart being presented to his family then I'll consider it all time well spent, and the personal consquences worth it.
So, for all of you who know me, try and keep in mind that if something bad happens to me if I 'm ever sent overseas, that I was there to try and do a noble job.  Okay!  Fatalistic part over!  Hooah and so on ;-)!
